Things you need to know about MNE 2018

Planning to pursue your career in Merchant Navy? Well time has come for you. TMC Shipping is conducting Merchant Navy Entrance-2018 in association with The Maritime Academy. This exam is for young aspirants who want to be a part of the shipping industry.

MNE 2018 is a sponsorship exam. Sponsorship means that you have been earmarked by an establishment that upon completion of your course you will be trained onboard their ship, where you are also eligible to receive stipend during your training period.  MNE 2018 is only for candidates seeking admission to one of the following courses:

  • GP Rating (General Purpose Rating)
  • Aus COC (Australian Certificate of Competency)
  • GME (Graduate Marine Engineering)
  • OCCP (Orientation Course for Catering Personnel)
  • DCA (Diploma in Culinary Arts)
  • DNS (Diploma in Nautical Science)

Application Fee for applying online for MNE-2018 is Rs.1100. Candidates can fill the MNE-2018 application on http://tmcshipping.in/content.php  and upload their scanned photograph.

Now that you have details about the courses available as well as about the registration process. It is important to know about the eligibility whether you can take this course or not. Here’s the eligibility criterion to enroll for MNE 2018.

Qualifications: 10+2 or equivalent with 60% marks in PCM or 10+2 with Commerce or 10th Pass + Diploma in any stream or 10th class or equivalent with 40% marks

Note: Minimum of 50% marks in English in 10th/12th Examination is required 

Age limit: The minimum age is 17 years and the maximum age should be 25 years.

The MNE 2018 exam duration will be 1 hour and 30 minutes i.e. (90 minutes) and it will consists of 75 multiple choice questions.

The multiple choice questions will be set from Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and English at Plus 2 level (CBSE, ISE and State Boards) and General Knowledge.

  • 25 questions in all from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics
  • 25 questions for English
  • 25 questions for General Knowledge.

The entrance exam will be held in different cities and candidates can choose their nearest location while registration. Here is the list of cities where you can appear for the exam:

  • Mumbai
  • Bengaluru
  • Gorakhpur
  • Ahmedabad

Important Instructions: All the candidates are requested to reach the MNE 2018 exam location 1 hour before the commencement of the exam. The test venue and address will be indicated on the admit card.
