How to become a Marine Engineer in the Merchant Navy?

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

The Shipping Industry is expanding day by day, so are the job opportunities. For the smooth functioning, this industry needs hard working and qualified personnel. There are various courses in the Merchant Navy which will help one to make a career in it. One of such courses is B.E. Mechanical Engineering. Those who have interest to work as a Marine Engineer and making of machines, manufacturing processes, and machine design, this is a suitable course for them.

The course involves concepts such as designing, manufacturing and working of machines and tools, parts of machines and their design and many more.

COURSE DURATION: 4 Years

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:All those who have 12th board examination from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics subjects, are eligible to pursue this course. Aggregate 50% marks are required to be eligible for this course.

SKILLS REQUIRED: The skills needed for this course are-

  • Strong computational mathematics
  • Creativity and analytical abilities.

The areas of study includes Manufacturing processes, Mechanical vibrations and Mechatronics, Heat and Mass Transfer, Tool Engineering and Design, Design of machine elements, Computer Integrated Manufacturing and Robotics.

SALARY

One can expect lucrative salary packages after completing the course.

SCOPE

It varies from material research to machinery development, Nanotechnology, Smart materials, Aerospace Technology, Missiles technology, CAD/CAM, FMS, CIM, Automation and such other interrelated developments.
